Class of travel

There are two different class of service in Swiss trains ie; 1st & 2nd class. Though there is not much difference in these two classes. First class offers you more space and a quieter journey. Your seats are a bit more comfortable, and you are assigned the upper deck on the ships. Rest everything is same as Second class. The same applies to boat routes on the lakes. There is no distinction between 1st and 2nd class in the dining cars, on Post buses, and on some regional trains.

Smoke-Free

The Swiss Travel System is smoke-free, with the only exceptions such as on open platforms and on the decks of ships. Otherwise, smoking is not permitted – not on trains, not in buses and trams, and not in stations.

Eating & Drinking

Most of the trains in Switzerland has a Railbar compartment where you can have your morning breakfast to evening snacks(optional). Whereas some trains have rolling Railbar upto your seat and Dining bars as well. Trains having Railbars/Dining bars will have specific symbol to indicate.

Family Wagons & The Family Zone

Many of the Inter City(IC) double-decker trains have a special play area where your children are guaranteed not to get bored. Family wagons are located in the 2nd class sections on the upper deck of the first or last carriage.

Bicycles

You can combine travel by bike and by train in any number of ways to make the most of both forms of transport. Exploring Switzerland on bicycle is very exciting as you come close to Mountains, Lakes, Rivers, Snow, Greenery and lots more.. You can rent a bicycle !
